Stylet-Oil is compatible with most agricultural chemicals and can be applied as a tank mix with them. Where problems are encountered, the incompatible chemicals are phytotoxic when used alone and the oil aggravates this toxicity. Consult a current label or contact JMS Flower Farms, Inc. for information regarding compatibility.

Chemical Incompatibility Can Occur When:

  • incompatible chemicals are tank mixed with the oil
  • incompatible chemical residue has dried on the inside of the spray tank and the oil dissolves the residue at the time of oil application
  • incompatible chemical residue is on the plant at the time of the oil application

Mixing Procedures ―

1.  Add ¼ to ½ of the liquid amount of water
     to the tank mix

2.  Start agitator before adding any tank mix
     partners. In general, tank mix partners
     should be added in the following order:

Products Packaged in Water Soluble Packaging;
Wettable powders;
Wettable granules (dry flowables);
Liquid formulations;
Liquids;
Emulsifiable concentrates;

and, add mineral oil as the last ingredient.

NOTE: Certain chemicals (such as Rally / Nova brand fungicide) are packaged in water soluble packages which are not oil soluble. We recommend these products be mixed in a clean 5-gallon bucket of water before adding to the spray tank water. Add the oil to the spray tank as the last ingredient.

   3.  Provide sufficient agitation while adding
        the remainder of the water.
   4.  Maintain agitation until
all the mixture
        has been applied

General Information:

  • add the oil to the tank mix as the last ingredient
  • local climatic conditions can adversely affect the persistence of oil on a crop
  • on crops where a tank mix or a spray interval has not been used before, spray a small area with the recommended nozzles and pressure, then wait several days to observe potential for phytotoxicity
  • chemicals which are phytotoxic when used alone will be more phytotoxic when used with the oil
  • when other products are tank mixed with Stylet-Oil the other products should be used only in accordance with their specific label directions

Partial List of Incompatible Chemicals

The following products have been observed to be CHEMICALLY INCOMPATIBLE with Stylet-Oil and should NOT be tank mixed. Spray these products separately with a 14 day interval preceding or following an oil application:

Insecticides:

Ambush, Pounce Sulfur 1 M-Pede / detergents / soaps
Kelthane 2 Omite 3

Fungicides:

Dyrene Botran Dikar
Sulfur 1 Bravo 4

Adjuvants:

  • Nu-Film-P, Nu-Film-17, pinolene-based products 5
  • spreader / stickers 5
  • organosilicone surfactants 6

1 On grapes: Do not apply sulfur within 10 days of an oil application. On all other crops: Do not apply micronized sulfur within 10 days of an oil application and do not apply oil within 14 days of wettable or dusting sulfur.

2 Do not use Kelthane in a spray program with Stylet-Oil on ornamentals or
  strawberries.

3 Do not use Omite with an oil spray. Do not apply Omite within 30 days of
  an oil application.

4 On cucurbits, do not use in a spray program with Stylet-Oil. Wait at least
  21 days between an oil application and a Nu-Film-P application.

5 Do not tank mix Stylet-Oil with Nu-Film-P or Nu-Film-17 (pinolene-based
  products). Wait at least 10 days between an oil application and spraying
  pinolene-based products.

6 Never tank mix Stylet-Oil with a spreader / sticker or an organosilicone
  surfactant. Wait at least until the foliage has dried before applying oil after
  an application using these products.

Chemicals NOT to be Used With Stylet-Oil

Do not use before, during or following a Stylet-Oil application:
